The Chair of General Materials Properties warmly congratulates Dr.-Ing. Steffen Neumeier on his successful habilitation and the associated granting of the teaching license. This academic distinction is associated with the award of the title of Private Lecturer.

PD Dr. Neumeier has been a respected expert in the field of high-temperature materials for many years, particularly in the area of cobalt- and nickel-based superalloys. In 2006, PD Dr. Neumeier successfully completed his diploma in materials science at the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nürnberg. Already during his studies, he concentrated on the research of nickel-based superalloys, a research area to which he remained faithful during his doctoral period until 2010. Following his doctorate, PD Dr. Neumeier worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Cambridge. There, he dedicated himself to the development of novel construction materials for high-temperature applications. Since 2011, PD Dr. Neumeier has been working again at the FAU, where he holds the position of head of the high-temperature group as an academic councillor and senior councillor. His outstanding achievements in materials research have been recognized by the award of the Young Scientist Prize of the German Society for Materials Science (DGM) in 2011 and the Masing Memorial Prize in 2016.

As part of an academic celebration, PD Dr. Neumeier was honored with a personalized graduate’s hat in recognition of his achievements and commitment to research.
